In June 2010, Statkraft decided that it would begin to solely focus its business on hydropower, wind power, gas power and district heating and in keeping with its decision, it has sold its Casale solar park to two Italian investors: Eurowood and Blue Stream Resources. All shares of the 3.3MWp solar park, which was owned by Statkraft’s RA1 company, have been signed and closed and are now equally owned between the two Italian companies.

Chris Robine, who joined SPG Solar in 2010 as the company’s chief financial officer, has now accepted the position of SPG Solar’s chief executive officer. Prior to SPG, Robine was CFO of General Electric’s renewable energy division where he helped the division double its revenue. Additionally, Robine has previously served as a member on the board of PrimeStar.

EME Energie Management Eberlein has partnered with Bosch Solar Energy on a three-year contract for the delivery of 31MWp of thin-film silicon solar modules. EME plans to use the solar modules at various field and rooftop projects in development.

In SolarTech’s continued effort to hasten the implementation of renewable solar energy projects on state and local levels, the company has made the industry’s first engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract template for solar financing, which is anticipated to go hand in hand with the power purchase agreement (PPA) that was released in 2009.

NEOptions, the Bulgarian Development Collaborative and SDN spent three years working together to produce what they claim as the largest solar PV project in Bulgaria and one of the largest in the EU: a 45MW solar PV project made up of one 20MW installation and another 25MW solar PV installation in the towns of Samovodene and Zlataritsa, Bulgaria. Construction has started on the solar PV project, with 5MW already completed.

JinkoSolar Holdings has signed an agreement with Innovalight granting JinkoSolar the right to purchase Innovalight’s silicon ink and license its processing technology for the manufacturing of solar cells. JinkoSolar is looking at this contract with Innovalight’s technology to yield efficiencies over 18.6% in its monocrystalline solar cells during the first half of 2011.

Day4 Energy and Motech Industries have agreed to an extension in the supply contract the two companies have for the delivery of multicrystalline silicon solar cells. Motech will considerably increase the contracted quantity of the solar cells they supply to Day4 and its Day4 solarSystems manufacturing partners, although neither company revealed the amount to be supplied. Delivery is set to begin in early January 2011.

MEMC has extended its chief financial officer position to Mark Murphy, who will take over for current CFO Tim Oliver. Oliver will remain with MEMC through the end of 2011’s first quarter in a non-executive role, but plans to leave the company for the pursuit of other interests. In addition to his role as CFO at MEMC, Murphy will also take on the role of senior vice president. The transition will be effective on January 10, 2011.

M+W Solar will be developing a turnkey solar PV plant in the Oria region of southern Italy. The 5MWp plant is set to be connected to the national grid during 2011 and produce over 7,000MWh of energy per year. M+W Solar will be overseeing the planning and construction of the solar PV plant along with securing the permits and approvals necessary for construction. The company has secured property rights for the project for twenty years.
