Over the last few weeks, Etrion has been steadily completing solar installations, including a combined 4MW total of PV projects in Italy. Its latest completion, the 3.5MW Borgo Piave solar park, has helped the company reach 47MW in operational solar parks for 2010.

After Southern California Edison canceled a power purchase agreement with Tessera Solar for the Calico Solar farm earlier this week, the development company has sold the project to K Road Sun, a subsidiary of K Road Power Holdings, for an undisclosed sum. K Road said that it will convert the first 750MW of the 850MW of the project to photovoltaic modules rather than Tessera’s concentrating solar thermal technology initially planned for deployment.

Just one day after announcing the completion of the Matino solar park in Italy, Etrion said it has reached completion of its Rio Martino solar park in Lazio, Italy. The 1.7MW ground-mounted solar project will generate over 2 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

NuGen Capital Management and KDC Solar have selected Solar Power to develop their joint venture: the White Rose distribution warehouse rooftop installation in Carteret, New Jersey. The 5MW rooftop system will be designed, engineered, and constructed by Solar Power which, under its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with NuGen and KDC Solar, will also monitor and service the solar plant once it is completed.

Etrion has reached completion of a 1MW solar park in Puglia, Italy, known as Matino. The solar park is anticipated to be able to produce 1.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity and profit from the 2010 feed-in-tariff of €0.346 per kWh and a market price of around €0.08 per kWh.

First Reserve gave SunEdison the final milestone payment of €230 million for the 70MW Rovigo solar power plant located in the northeast region of Italy. First Reserve obtained the Rovigo plant for €276 million through a joint venture with SunEdison. The first milestone payment of €46 million was paid to SunEdison in October 2010 with the final payment produced on December 23.

Centrosolar, along with Pohlen, have completed the installation of a rooftop PV system for the international grocery chain ALDI in Masquefa, a Spanish town in the province of Barcelona. The project, measuring just over 351,455 square feet, was connected to the grid this past August with 6,595 modules and has a capacity to produce 1.422MWp of solar energy.

One of AES Solar’s subsidiaries has completed long-term non-recourse facilities financing for €103 million, which will go towards the construction of a 24MW portfolio of solar PV projects in Italy. The “Il Terzo” portfolio will see the construction of PV sites in Lazio, Puglia and Sicilia, Italy. Banks Dexia Crediop and Société Générale contributed to the facilities financing, covering around 85% of the estimated project costs with a final maturity date 18 years after construction is completed.

Renewable energy project developer Sustainable Energy Capital Partners (SECP) has formed a joint venture partnership with Korean independent power producer Posco Power to develop and build a 300MW photovoltaic power plant in Boulder City, Nevada. Global engineering/construction/management services firm Parsons has also signed on to the project.

The Tata Power Company has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigram for the construction of a 25MW solar PV plant in Mithapur, Gujarat, India. The project qualifies for the State’s Solar Power Policy 2009 and is expected to be completed by December 2011.
