The recently released 2023 Fortune Global 500 included the TW (Tongwei) Solar Group with revenues of RMB 214.882 billion, the first PV company to achieve a listing.

Since entering the PV industry in 2006, the company has racked up a number of significant breakthroughs and achievements, culminating in it being ranked first in the sector in 2022, based on both revenues and net profits. Behind these figures lies the company’s strength in achieving consistent development and industry leadership, establishing an integrated industry chain focused on high-purity crystalline silicon and high-efficiency cells and modules, which has  delivered advantages in scale, technology, cost and quality.

As a leading silicon materials company, Tongwei ranks first globally in terms of high-purity crystalline silicon production and sales volumes, with worldwide cell shipments ranking first for six consecutive years.

Entering the module sector in August 2022, the company rapidly became a top ten player for module shipments and is now looking to achieve a production capacity of 80GW.

As of the end of 2022, it had applied for 2,411 industry patents, securing rights to 1,396 and employing over 3,500 R&D staff.

With innovation set to be key to future success, Tongwei Solar is fully committed to technology-led development. Its independently-developed core technology for the intelligent manufacture of high-purity crystalline silicon in China is a perfect example, reaching purity levels of 99.999999999%, known as the  ‘eleven nines’, with a monocrystalline rate of over 99%.

In the cell sector, the company is heavily involved in the development of N-type technology, having established the industry’s first 1GW 210 TNC mass production line with an industry-leading 25.7% efficiency. In terms of modules, its self-developed THC production line has achieved a maximum efficiency of 26.49%, with its 210-66 heterojunction module achieving front power of 743.68W.

In 2023 alone, the company has set four records for HJT module power, taking a key leadership role in the ongoing upgrade of the PV industry.
