JinkoSolar has carried out the global launch of its ‘Five-Star’ fire-resistant module at PV Expo Japan in Tokyo, the product meeting the world’s most stringent fire safety requirements and the highest fire resistance standard.

As photovoltaics become increasingly integrated into architecture, the fire resistance of modules has become a lifeline for safety in projects including high-density residential and commercial buildings. The new module, via fundamental innovations in materials science and cutting-edge flame-retardant technology, achieves no ignition, no fire spread, static electricity prevention, resistance to wind and snow and protection against short circuits caused by moisture penetration.

For buildings with high safety requirements, the fire resistance of rooftop modules directly determines project approval. The Five-Star module has achieved UL 790 Class A certification, the most stringent standard in North America, representing the highest level of fire resistance in the PV industry.

A comprehensive, material-based fire retardant system builds a strong safety barrier from the source, with critical insulation materials meeting the highest UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant rating.   Polymer materials pass both needle flame and glowing wire tests, encompassing backplates, encapsulation films, junction box housings and sealants, with.the entire system complying with external building fire safety standards. Arc-resistant design additionally eliminates potential risks of electrical fires, with superior mechanical load capacity creating a robust physical safety barrier.

The Five-Star module incorporates five core technologies: Class A system fire resistance, UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant materials, dual certification for needle flame and glowing wire tests, anti-arc design and robust mechanical load capacity, the launch representing the latest breakthrough to come from Jinko’s commitment to photovoltaic safety technology and focus on core customer needs.
