
LONGi Solar Europe is to supply its Hi-MO 9 photovoltaic modules for a utility-scale solar portfolio being built by Italy’s Innovo Renewables. With a total installed capacity of approximately 71 MWp, the portfolio represents the first major utility-scale milestone in the companies’ cooperation and a further step in Innovo’s growth as an independent power producer (IPP) in Europe.

The portfolio will deploy LONGi Hi-MO 9 modules, built on the company’s second-generation HPBC 2.0 back-contact cell platform. By moving the electrical contacts to the rear of the cell and eliminating front-side busbar shading, the architecture increases the active light-receiving area and improves energy conversion. The Hi-MO 9 product family reaches module efficiency of up to 24.8% and power of up to 670 W, delivering high power density that supports efficient use of project land and can reduce the number of modules and balance-of-system components required for a target project capacity.
Hi-MO 9 is engineered to maintain strong performance under low- and diffuse-light conditions, extending effective generation periods and supporting higher energy yield under variable irradiance. Its power temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C helps limit output losses at elevated operating temperatures, an important advantage for utility-scale assets in Italy.
Across the portfolio, the modules will be installed on single-axis tracker systems that adjust array orientation as the sun moves throughout the day. The tracker configuration is designed to increase irradiance capture and maximize both front-side generation and rear-side bifacial gains. Combined with Hi-MO 9’s efficiency and low-light response, the system architecture will help optimize the daily generation profile, operational efficiency and levelized cost of electricity over the plants’ lifetimes.

Once fully operational, the portfolio is expected to generate around 110 GWh of renewable electricity annually. This output is enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 40,000 Italian households while eliminating some 35,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. Alongside the plants’ emphasis on efficiency, reliability and local integration, this impact will make a tangible contribution to Italy’s decarbonisation goals and the creation of long-term value.
