Maxwell Technologies and Huasun Energy have announced the signing of a strategic cooperation frame agreement, under which Huasun will place orders for no less than 20GW of HJT NBB module stringer equipment in stages over a period of three years, the first order for 5.4GW having already been signed off.
As leading players in the industrialization of HJT technology, the two parties have already cooperated on 17.8GW of high-efficiency cell production line equipment since 2020. The 5.4GW project at Huasun’s Hefei base involves a production line for bifacial microcrystalline HJT high-efficiency cells, independently developed by Maxwell. Installation of the equipment will begin at the end of September.
From a customer perspective, to further reduce the consumption of silver paste in HJT cells and modules, Maxwell has developed second-generation NBB (no busbar) technology, as well as its stringer equipment. The technology removes all busbars from the cell, reducing use of silver paste by at least 30%. It can also formulate an effective welding alloy layer, which not only improves a module’s power and stability, but also reduces manufacturing costs.
