SEG Solar has announced that its Tomball #1 module plant in the Greater Houston area of Texas has successfully completed Intertek’s factory audit and received an ETL Authorization to Mark, clearing the company to apply the ETL Mark to modules produced at the facility for sale in the United States and Canada. The plant has an annual capacity of 4GW, including a 1GW back-contact (BC) line, giving it production capability in both heterojunction (HJT) and BC technologies, its first module rolling off the production line on September 16th.
The ETL Mark is among the most widely recognized product safety certifications in North America. ETL certification extends beyond sample testing: producing facilities must accept regular inspections that verify production units remain identical to the units tested and passing the inspection confirms that the plant’s quality control system and process capabilities meet certification requirements.
The inspection was conducted against the latest editions of UL 61215 and UL 61730, covering incoming inspection of raw materials and components, in-process quality control, process flow and equipment management, finished-goods testing and after-sales traceability. The plant is equipped with AI-enabled inspection and MES 2.0 and ERP 2.0 digital manufacturing systems, making production data traceable across the full process. SEG’s first U.S. facility, a 2 GW module plant in Houston, previously passed the same Intertek inspection.
SEG CEO Jim Wood commented: “Passing the factory inspection reflects the control SEG applies to new production lines, product quality and safety in the U.S. market. We will continue to support local supply with a complete certification framework and advanced manufacturing capability, delivering efficient and reliable modules to North American customers.”
