Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad at the Sungrow booth

Sungrow has exhibited its latest state-of-the-art renewable energy solutions to audiences at IGEM Malaysia 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, including inverters, energy storage systems, electric vehicle chargers and digital energy management platforms. With Malaysia undergoing a critical phase in its energy transition, the Sungrow booth attracted significant attention from visitors, which included Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, the Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change and Member of Parliament for Setiawangsa.

Among products on display at the booth were the powerful SG350HX 350kW string inverter, the innovative “1+X” modular inverter and the latest generation liquid-cooled energy storage system, the PowerTitan 2.0.

The “1+X” modular inverter is an innovative product combining the advantages of central and string inverters. By combining eight units, the inverter can reach 8.8MW in capacity, offering a minimum capacity of 1.1MW per unit. The PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system is an integration of Sungrow’s power electronics, electrochemistry and power grid support technologies, featuring a large battery cell capacity of 314Ah. The product features a string Power Conversion System (PCS) in the battery container, embeds strong grid support technology and features systematic liquid-cooled temperature control.

The rapid expansion of the manufacturing industry and the support of a Net Energy Metering Scheme in Malaysia encourages local factories and commercial buildings to install photovoltaics to reduce electricity bills, with a full range of Sungrow solutions available for this sector. These include the SG125CX-P2 inverter, the PowerStack ESS, SP600S power optimizer, the AC22E-01 EV charger and the new generation iSolarCloud digital O&M platform. Tailored to meet Southeast Asia’s policy requirements and long-term plant ambitions, the SP600S surpasses similar products due to its dual functionality of optimization and shutdown. The product, certified by TÜV Rheinland and CSA, is already in use by companies in Thailand.

With the Malaysian government strongly supporting the installation of photovoltaics on household roofs, Sungrow’s SH10RS and SG20RT-P2 10kW and 20kW hybrid single-phase inverters offer customers a choice of suitable products based on roof size.

Kevin Guo, head of Sungrow Malaysia, commented: “With the ambitious target of achieving installed capacity of 70% of renewable energy in the power mix by 2050, primarily driven by solar PV installations, Malaysia is facing challenges. We have already commissioned several solar projects in the country and our innovative technologies can provide Malaysia with efficient, safe, durable and stylish products, helping it to reach its net-zero goal as soon as possible.”
