TrinaTracker has announced that its 1P tracker system has been validated by the inspection and certification organisation RINA Tech Renewables, for compliance with the Australian building codes and standards for deployment in the country’s ‘Wind Region C.’

The independent assessment takes the form of a non-project specific review, examining the structural design and design methods of a single-axis tracker system for compliance with codes and standards relevant for use in the Australian market. The scope of work included a review of Trina Solar’s design documentation, as well as a compliance review to  confirm static and dynamic wind load and aeroelastic effects determined by the relevant  codes. The report also assessed structural calculations for tracker related elements, including connections, as well as wind tunnel procedures.

Australia’s Wind Region C refers to a part of the country’s northern coastal area, where wind speeds can be classified as cyclonic, reaching as high as 248 km/h. The strong gusts that characterize the region pose a range of design and engineering challenges for developers and independent power producers who are considering solar solutions. RINA’s assessment of TrinaTracker 1P confirms the performance, feasibility and reliability of the tracker in harsh conditions and is testimony to Trina Solar’s commitment to meeting the diverse and unique needs of its clients.

“TrinaTracker has been collaborating with RINA for verification and approval of our single axis trackers for deployment in Australia’s Wind Region C. As more renewable capacity is built in remote sites, TrinaTracker views this as an important step in enabling customers to deploy our technology in these increasingly challenging locations with confidence,” commented Andrew Gilhooly, Trina Solar APAC’s Head of C&I and Utility Solutions.
