Voltage Energy Group continues to advance its system-level EBOS platform as utility-scale solar projects move toward higher power, higher voltage and more demanding execution schedules.

Voltage does not view the transition toward 2kV architectures as a gradual product extension, but as a platform transition. Higher system voltage enables longer string configurations with fewer parallel runs, connection points and inverters, simplifying field installation and reducing labour complexity.

In a representative utility-scale comparison, a 2kV configuration can reduce the number of strings from approximately 75,000 to 58,000, eliminating roughly 18,000 to 20,000 repeated routing, labelling, landing and testing operations.

As utility-scale projects increase in scale and complexity, customers need more than individual wiring components. They need an integrated EBOS architecture that can simplify construction, reduce labour and material usage, improve reliability and support the project from design through to operation.

Traditional on-site assembly requires labour-intensive wiring, numerous connection points and complex troubleshooting, while key activities such as wire management and connector confirmation are largely performed on site. This increases installation time, execution complexity and the likelihood of errors.

Voltage addresses these challenges by moving critical electrical connections from the field into controlled factory environments through pre-assembly, controlled overmolding, labelling and 100% conductivity testing. This shifts reliability away from variable installation conditions and into engineered manufacturing processes, creating a more predictable, repeatable workflow.

The company’s LYNX PLUS and IBEX PLUS platforms support different utility-scale EBOS configurations within its broader system-level EBOS approach.

LYNX PLUS is a pre-molded aluminium trunk bus system designed for large-scale power collection. The platform supports main trunk conductor sizes from 1/0 AWG to 1250 kcmil, with up to eight inputs per mold and Isc coverage from 168A to 791A. By using aluminium at the trunk level while engineering around required ampacity and voltage-drop parameters, LYNX PLUS can reduce copper content while consolidating power collection from multiple strings. By 2026, 2kV LYNX PLUS was already in production and being deployed at customer sites.

IBEX PLUS uses a flexible aluminium trunk, combined with copper or flexible aluminium branch options. Its conductor design is approximately 97% aluminium, providing a customizable multi-string harness architecture for projects where row geometry, inverter configuration or collection strategy requires greater flexibility.

Voltage designs the electrical architecture and construction workflow around project-specific requirements such as block size, inverter topology, combiner strategy and site layout. Depending on the project configuration, LYNX PLUS and IBEX PLUS can be used independently or across different blocks within the same site.

Voltage’s system-level EBOS platform combines innovative physical products with comprehensive digital services. Its digital services support the design, manufacturing and deployment of physical products, enabling the company to engage earlier in the project lifecycle, collaborate with customer engineering teams, provide customized design options, digitally pre-validate installation workflows and support field execution through standardized products and services.

This positions Voltage as a system-level partner that helps EPCs and developers optimize the entire electrical architecture and construction workflow, with the goal of reducing cable usage, lowering connector counts, improving installation efficiency and enabling more scalable and predictable project delivery.

The company recently discussed these topics during a PV Tech webinar, ‘Factory Built, Field Ready: How Engineered EBOS Reduces Labour, Schedule Risk and Install Errors’, sharing its perspective on pre-assembled EBOS, field execution and the industry’s transition toward 2kV architectures.

As utility-scale solar continues to evolve, Voltage is building around 2kV as the system baseline and advancing a system-level EBOS platform designed to support customers from design through to deployment.
