The potential construction of a 250MW solar trough technology plant in Nye County is the main project under consideration.  The companies seek to complete this plant by 2013 or 2014, should it be approved.  The location of Nye County was suggested since it includes thermal storage, which would allow the plant to produce energy after sunset during summer, when demand for electricity is the highest.

Through this MoU, the companies plan to research thermal storage technology just as is being done in certain Solar Millennium projects in Spain.  In addition, they are studying transmission and environmental studies.

Approval by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada is pending before construction can begin.
