The government of Indonesia has launched a programme that aims to build 100GW of solar PV in the coming years, mostly distributed across smaller projects in rural areas.
Indonesian energy policy think tank, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), has penned a new report stating that the country stands to gain from the influx of new solar manufacturing capabilities yet is still underutilising its generation potential.
Analysts have flagged concerns over a lack of clarity from Indonesia’s government related to power exports, potentially spelling trouble for project developers looking to transmit renewables generation from the country to neighbouring Singapore.
