Israeli renewable energy developer Nofar Energy will acquire an almost 1GW US utility-scale solar portfolio from bankrupt IPP Pine Gate Renewables.

Pine Gate Renewables has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to pursue a court-supervised sale of its solar and energy storage portfolio, along with its independent power producer (IPP) platform.  

Investment firm General Capital has invested US$500 million in developer Pine Gate, which will support its utility-scale solar expansion.

Pine Gate Renewables has entered into a partnership with John Hancock to own and manage 413MW across 35 PV projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Oregon.
