aleo solar AG has been approached to supply modules and inverters for a 250kW power plant in Oristano on the west coast of Sardinia. The Arborea I project, one of the largest rooftop installations on the island, will be equipped with 1,138 aleo S_18 type modules with a total output of 250 kilowatts.
Motech Industries’ Kunshan, China-based subsidiary Motech (Suzhou) Renewable Energy has, according to a report in Digitimes, announced that it is running at full utilisation and that demand is exceeding supply in the company’s facility. As a result, the company plans to increase prices by between 1 and 2%.

PV-Tech’s report on Enfinity’s winning a 10MW PV plant development project has been confirmed. Dubbed the Dunhuang PV Project, a new initiative to construct a 10MWp solar power plant in the Dunhuang region of China will see the investment of 200 million yuan (€27 million). Enfinity, as project leaders, will oversee the installation of PV tracker panels on the site and will confirm the contract once it has established the Dunhuang joint venture company.

The deal is "a non-binding strategic agreement similar to our agreement with the Qinghai government," said our source, and could potentially lead to the Chinese PV market becoming much bigger than expected in the not-too-distant future.
Bruker BioSpin is celebrating its first order for an Elexsys E780 system, dubbed the world’s first commercial mm-wave 263 Gigahertz (GHz) EPR (electron paramagnetic resonance) spectrometer. The order was received from the Helmholtz-Zentrum in Berlin and will be used for researching new EPR applications in solar energy technology. It marks the first step in a collaborative research partnership between the two companies on EPR probe development for electrical detection.
Eyelit, Inc. has shipped one of its integrated manufacturing execution software (MES) suites to materials technology company Umicore for production of germanium wafers at its Olen, Belgium-based Electro-Optic Materials Business Unit. The company intends to roll out the system to Quapaw, Oklahoma in the second half of this year.
Fraunhofer Gesellschaft has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – representing the Masdar City Project – that aims to embark on a collaborative deal to establish renewable energy projects for the region. Masdar City will be located on an area of six square kilometres approximately 30 kilometres east of Abu Dhabi, and is being designed to be a carbon-neutral city, powered entirely by renewable energy sources.
Bolstering its finances ahead of a major technology transition, Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. has secured a convertible loan agreement worth $50 million with IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. Suntech has earmarked the funds for debt refinancing and to support the company’s transition to the Pluto technology approach, which is based on the PERL (passivated emitter with rear locally diffused) cell technology and has demonstrated world-record lab efficiencies of 25%.
Building on his experience in the equipment sales industry, Robin Bancroft, a former European agent for Baccini, has joined DEK Solar as Alternative Energies Business Development Manager for Western Europe.
