DYCM secures funding for 1GW module assembly plant in California

US module manufacturer DYCM Solar Modules has closed an investment roundto fund the growth of its business and its solar module assembly plant in California, US.

The funding was secured through investment firms Octo Capital, Audrose Capital Partners, and affiliates of Antarctica Capital.

PV Tech reached out to DYCM regarding the amount of the funding secured.

Located in Morgan Hill, the 150,000-square-foot module assembly plant is expected to begin commercial shipments for its first heterojunction (HJT) line in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Once fully ramped up, the module assembly plant will have an annual nameplate capacity of 1GW, while the company has already secured 1.2GW of module orders. As the California module assembly plant becomes operational and additional lines are developed, the US module manufacturer expects to scale capacity in step with its order pipeline.

According to DYCM, the investment also positions the company to capitalise on domestic demand for non-FEOC (Foreign Entity of Concern) modules with a full supply chain traceability.

“Electricity demand, driven largely by the AI infrastructure buildout, is colliding with a structural shortage of domestic clean energy,” said Fred Bronstein of Octo Capital, a DYCM Board Member. “DYCM sits at the intersection of the energy transition, AI-driven demand, and a policy backdrop built to reward domestic manufacturing.

DYCM’s selection of HJT for its module assembly plant mirrors other US manufacturers that are building HJT module assembly plants (subscription required), with more recently, Canadian Solar starting HJT solar cell production at its facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Once fully ramped up and operational, the facility will have a 6 GW annual nameplate capacity of HJT solar cells.
