Trichlorosilane producer, SunSi Energies is attempting to join the NASDAQ Capital Market to fund further expansion of TCS production. The company recently noted that it expected revenue for 2012 to be between US$49-US$52 million, compared to US$15.1 million in revenue reported in fiscal 2011.
Dunmore advised of its newly added capacity for the manufacturing of solar backsheets, which incorporate DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions’ Tedlar polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) film. SolOptics, a division of Genie Lens Technologies, revealed a significant milestone in the performance testing of its Fusion PV enhancement technology. Testing conducted at the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has concluded that the Fusion technology increased the overall energy production of the PV modules tested by up to 4%, with performance enhancements for all irradiance ranges.
DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM) has announced the release of its latest photovoltaic metallization paste, with 15% less silver than previous pastes. The introduction of the Solamet PV51M comes as part of the company’s continued attempts to reduce the silver content of its pastes by 20%, in the face of rising silver prices.
After recently announcing that it had shipped its first international trichlorosilane (TCS) delivery, SunSi Energies has advised that the first phase of the expansion for its Wendeng TCS facility in Weihai City, China is complete. The expansion increased the facility’s production capacity by 50%, or 10,000MT, to 30,000MT.
Calisolar is making its move to become high-volume low-cost silicon solar wafer producer with plans to build a 16,000MT silicon production facility in Lowndes County, Mississippi at an estimated cost of US$600 million. A pioneer of enhanced UMG-based wafers, Calisolar is bring silicon material production in-house to significantly lower costs and have greater control over material quality. When fully operational, the plant is said to employ 951 full-time workers.
