Gokin Solar and AIKO have officially signed an upgraded strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate the large-scale commercialization and technological advancement of back contact (BC) solar technology. The signing ceremony, held in Guangzhou, saw Gokin Vice GM Zhou Ying and AIKO Sales Director Rui Long represent their respective companies.
BC technology is widely regarded as the next frontier in PV efficiency, pushing the boundaries of crystalline silicon cells toward their theoretical limit of 29.4%. Beyond its high conversion efficiency, BC technology offers enhanced reliability and a sleek aesthetic that is increasingly favoured by high-end global markets.
The collaboration leverages the complementary strengths of the two players, Gokin contributing its world-class expertise in silicon wafers and expanding BC module manufacturing capacity, with AIKO bringing its strong R&D foundation, proven mass production capabilities and extensive patent portfolio in BC cells.
The agreement will see the two companies establish synergy across the entire wafer-cell-module value chain to reinforce market leadership, in technical and processes, capacity and supply chain and markets and channels.
The partnership underscores a shared conviction in the long-term potential of BC technology, with the collaboration a key step for Gokin in its strategic pivot toward high-efficiency modules. Through the integration of industrial resources, the company is poised to drive the widespread adoption of BC technology and contribute to a more efficient, low-carbon and sustainable global energy future.
