JinkoSolar has supplied 28,000 of its high-efficiency 66-cell BDV modules for Northpower’s Te Puna Mauri ō Omaru solar farm in New Zealand’s Northland region. With a capacity of 19.3MWdc, the milestone project represents the country’s inaugural grid-scale and community-owned solar initiative and has now been connected to the grid.

Designed to perform in New Zealand’s cool and often cloudy climate, JinkoSolar’s TOPCon technology was key to the project’s success, its high per-watt energy output in low-light conditions ensuring strong performance during early mornings, late evenings and overcast days. With a low temperature coefficient and high bifacial ratio that captures reflected light from natural landscapes, TOPCon delivers maximum energy yield and long-term reliability in  demanding environments, making it the ideal solution for this landmark solar project.

Michael Wang, GM for JinkoSolar Oceania, commented: “This landmark achievement demonstrates how high-performance solar technology enables rapid decarbonization. Our BDV modules deliver exceptional yield reliability throughout Northland’s demanding climate conditions – a critical factor in completing New Zealand’s largest solar farm within record time. We’ll continue accelerating the Pacific region’s clean energy transition through innovative partnerships.”
