Trina Solar is to ship over 59,000 of its 600W Vertex bifacial modules for the first phase of Focus Energia’s Futura 1 project in Juazeiro, in Brazil’s Bahia state. Futura 1, a project made up of 22 solar parks, will be implemented in three phases and is currently among the country’s largest.
The project is already underway, with 550 people working on site. Operations are scheduled to commence in April 2022.
According to Focus Energia, the project’s energy production will be entirely destined for the free market. This strategy follows the latest trend whereby renewable energy generation entrepreneurs tend to prefer to negotiate directly with clients, instead of competing in auctions promoted by Aneel, to serve their captive market exclusively.
According to Alan Zelazo, Focus’ CEO, it is estimated that 2,000 direct and 4,000 indirect jobs will be generated during implementation of the system.
“Trina Solar has the most advanced technology and the most powerful modules with great performance. This, for sure, helped Focus to choose us,” commented Álvaro García, Trina Solar’s Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Operating in Brazil since 2017, Trina Solar sees great potential in the country. “Brazil is Latin America’s leading market for solar energy. It is a super dynamic market with high growth and is a priority for Trina Solar,” García concluded.
