eIQ Energy’s has agreed to supply its Parallel Solar technology for a new 1.2MW solar installation at Granite Construction’s aggregate and hot mix facility in Coalinga, California. Building work on the project began earlier this month and grid connection is expected to be achieved later on this summer.

Constellation Energy will build, own and maintain a 5.38MW rooftop solar installation at Toys R Us’s distribution centre in Flanders, New Jersey. The system, said to be the largest of its kind in the US, will be connected to the grid this summer and all the electricity generated will be purchased by the toy store under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is home to a new 1.56MW parking lot canopy solar system, which uses 6,400 solar panels from SolarWorld. The fifteen solar arrays cover 800 of the 1,000 parking spaces in the zoo’s primary parking lot and are expected to deliver 20% of the zoo’s power needs. The four-acre solar installation was developed, engineered and installed by Melink.

The Solar Trust of America has formed a joint venture with SolarHybrid as it looks to establish itself in the solar industry. The new company, SolarHybrid of America, has already signed a letter of intent to establish a range of utility-scale projects in North America. This portfolio will include stand-alone systems, as well as projects incorporating concentrated solar power (CSP).

Applied Energy Technologies (AET) is further developing its solar-mounting solutions production with the opening of its new 43,100 square foot manufacturing and warehouse facility in Maumee, Ohio. The new facility includes a 41,600 square foot manufacturing and warehouse space, along with 1,500 square feet of office space and triples AET’s US production capacity.

NJR Clean Energy Ventures (NJRCEV), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NJR), has closed on a 21-year lease with the Village at Manalapan Solar for 13-acres of land in Manalapan, New Jersey. NJRCEV intends to develop a 3.6MW, US$18 million ground-mounted solar system at the New Jersey site, which will service the wholesale electric market. This is NJRCEV’s first ground-mounted solar installation, which has a completion and in-service date for sometime this fall.

Lincoln Renewable Energy (LRE) has finalized the sale and project finance deal with Macquarie Energy worth US$41 million. The agreement sees Macquarie Energy enter a long-term purchase agreement for power and renewable energy credits from LRE’s New Jersey-based 10MW Oak Solar PV project. LRE will remain the long-term owner of the facility, while Macquarie Energy provides construction finance and term debt for Oak Solar.

Eric Daniels will be leading the Solar Energy North American division of Robert Bosch as the department’s first solar energy regional president. In his new role, Daniels will supervise the company’s solar business in North America while specifically focusing on business development opportunities. Daniels is a 14-year veteran of the solar industry who joins Bosch from BP Solar where he served as CTO for seven years.

Solaria has officially unveiled its new manufacturing plant and solar array at the company headquarters in Fremont, California. The opening ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Governor of California Gavin Newsom, EPA Regional Administrator Jared Blumenfeld and several other state dignitaries.

Spire Corporation has started building work on a 2MW system for a school in southwest Massachusetts. The system is situated on eight acres of land at the Berkshire School in the town of Sheffield and will generate 2,300 MWh of electricity every year.
