SunEdison and office products company Staples have continued on their solar collaborations with the completion of 1.5MW solar power installation at the Staples distribution centre in Hagerstown, Maryland. This brings the solar power installed by the two companies in Maryland to over 2.5MW, having earlier this year completed a 1.01MW installation at the Staples fulfillment center in Hanover.
Adding to the company’s ever-expanding portfolio of large-scale installations, SunEdison has won the contract to provide a 14.5MW ground-mounted solar power installation at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMAFB) in Tucson, Arizona. The agreement will see SunEdison look after the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the ~130 acre site, which, upon completion, will provide as much as 35% of DMAFB’s energy needs.
A B2B forum scheduled to run from October 12th to 14th has been arranged with the intention of creating some form of cooperation between solar ventures and plans in Russia and Bulgaria. Johanna Solar Technology’s acquisition by the Bosch Group has now been completed, and the company will from hereon in be known as Bosch Solar CISTech GmbH. The company’s new name has been entered into the Commercial Registry and the thin-film solar module manufacturer will continue its operations under this new name.
Product Briefing Outline: teamtechnik is launching a new, more compact STRINGER TT1200, which can solder solar cell strings at 1200 cycles per hour on just one track, making it one of the fastest in the world. teamtechnik has focused on the efficiency optimization of this stringer technology and has improved the price-performance ratio further. Other improvements include shorter set-up times and a shorter delivery time of a maximum of three months. The system’s power consumption and noise levels have also been reduced.
New York-based private equity firm New Mountain, a subsidiary of New Mountain Capital, has paid US$280 million for the acquisition of Mallinckrodt Baker (MBI) from Covidien. MBI’s operations and scope are expected to continue as normal, with Raj Gupta, former CEO of Rohm and Haas and senior advisor to New Mountain, taking the helm as chairman of the board.
Nevada Solar Works has announced its success in bidding for the contract for construction of a 1.3MW solar project in the City of Reno, Nevada. The contract, which comprises several installations, will see the construction of a 1MW fixed-tilt ground-mount system at the Reno-Stead Water Treatment Plant, as well as a total of 295kW in fixed-tilt roof- and ground-mount installations at five locations in the City.
