Reporting to REC’s EVP, John Andersen, former LG Electronics manager, Luc Graré has been appointed the firms new senior vice president, sales and marketing, cells & modules. Graré will be tasked with strengthening REC’s sales and marketing activities, and will join REC on July 1st.
Payom Solar has formed a new subsidiary in Turbigo, Milan to help manage the company’s rapidly-expanding Italian client base. The subsidiary, which has been named Solar Energy Italia SAS, has already secured its first major order – a 4MW roof system for a Danish investment group valued at €13 million.

Transphorm has completed the latest round of financing for the development of its Galiium Nitride GaN power conversion module. Quantum Strategic Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Google Ventures, Foundation Capital and Lux Capital were the investors behind the US$25 million Series D financing round, which takes the total capital raised to US$63 million.

Solar Frontier is set to strengthen its presence within the growing Middle Eastern solar market by opening a new office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The past three months have seen the company gather around US$5 million through cash received from equity sales of US$635,000, common stock subscription commitments of US$1,750,000 and the conversion of US$2.7 million in redeemable stock to common equity by its 40% equity partner, Wendeng facility.
Stringer system specialists teamtechnik has expanded the global reach of its production base by forming two new subsidiaries in Asia. The subsidiaries, located in the Chinese cities of Suzhou and Jintan, enable the Freiberg-based firm to provide shorter delivery time, quicken service response and forge a closer relationship with its clients.
Cited as one of its largest single investments in manufacturing facilities in the long history of the company, Bosch is planning to invest over €520 million in a new fully-integrated solar module manufacturing plant in Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia. Construction is expected to start by the end of 2011 with production scheduled to have begun by the end of 2013. When fully ramped in 2014, capacity is expected to reach a combined 640MW. The company noted that it still expects sales to pass the €1 billion level this year.
