Jürgen Becker, state secretary of the German Federal ministry of the environment, pointed out at the Helios Project conference in Athens, that there are several opportunities to accelerate the development of solar energy in order to create new jobs and economic growth in a time of crisis.
Exosun advised that it had completed construction of its 3.8MW Porette de Nérone power plant, which has now entered the commissioning phase and is expected to produce its first kWh in May. Ibereolica has announced that it has plans to build a 360MW solar power plant in the Atacama Desert in Chile, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Spanish company will invest US$2.6 billion in what will become the largest solar park in Chile to-date.
German solar company Schott solar are in the process of installing a 17MW PV project with their Greek EPC partner Environ.
