UL Solutions has recognised LONGi’s high-efficiency modules with Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification. LONGi has also registered EPDItaly certification as a result of mutual recognition.
An EPD is an internationally harmonized third-party verification report based on ISO 14025: Environmental Labelling and Declarations – Type III Environmental Declaration – Principles and Procedures. It rigorously tracks the environmental impact of a product throughout its lifecycle, including raw material acquisition, manufacturing and processing, transportation, use and end-of-life stages. EPD marks are different from other product ratings or environmental labels and serve as validation of a whole production process for sustainable products, reflecting a manufacturer’s commitment to sustainability, while showcasing its willingness to go above and beyond basic levels.
The verification covered LONGi’s production processes of ingot pulling, wafers, cells and modules, the data collection and verification taking five months. After comprehensive calculations and analysis of data by UL Solutions experts, LONGi’s high-efficiency Hi-MO 4 and Hi-MO 5 modules were deemed to have met EPD standard requirements and certified.
The certifications represent validation of LONGi’s ‘Solar for Solar’ green development manufacturing concept and the company’s fulfilment of social responsibility and promotion of sustainable development.
