
Maxwell Technologies has announced that its independently developed HJT solar cells have achieved a conversion efficiency of 26.92% on a full size 210 half-cut wafer (220.76 cm²). This milestone, officially certified by Germany’s Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH), sets a new world record for HJT solar cells, marking a new era for the company in the R&D and industrialization of the high-efficiency technology.
The efficiency breakthrough was achieved via Maxwell’s proprietary full-line HJT production equipment and complete-process technical solutions. Based on commercial grade silicon wafers and screen-printing, the Maxwell R&D team has integrated a portfolio of the company’s proprietary core technologies, including nanocrystalline structure and material optimization, carrier transport-passivation balance, differentiated texturing and silicon wafer edge optimization engineering, all associated equipment, materials and process routes being scalable for mass production.
Each new efficiency certification is a strong indicator of the company’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement, the latest 1.87% efficiency leap establishing a roadmap for performance advancement and forging a cost-efficient, mass-manufacturable technological pathway to drive the large-scale industrialization of HJT technology worldwide.
