SOFAR has announced the commissioning of a 300MW utility project located on the south edge of Tengger desert, China’s fourth largest, in the country’s Gansu province. The plant is expected to generate an annual 540 million kWh of clean electricity, while eliminating 160,000 tons of carbon emissions.
The project deploys over 1,300 of the company’s 255KTL-HV inverters which, equipped with IP66 and C5 anti-corrosion protection, provide robust durability in harsh desert environments. The inclusion of smart string-level disconnection (SSLD) ensures efficient and safe operation by isolating faulty strings, minimizing any potential impact on overall system performance.
“The success we have achieved wouldn’t be possible without the support of our partners and we are delighted to collaborate with SOFAR on a project of such significant scale. The SOFAR inverters have operated stably during the whole process, so we are confident about stable power supply and high yields in future operation,” commented Xiaoyong He, Chief Project Engineer at PowerChina, the project’s EPC.
Head of SOFAR China, Ethan Shi, believes that the collaboration reflects SOFAR’s strong commitment to the shared goal of carbon neutrality. “With several ongoing projects in partnership with PowerChina nationwide, we are able to leverage their expertise and resources to further expand our presence and impact. We welcome the opportunities ahead and look forward to achieving great success together.”
