Trina Solar has again extended its international footprint with the production of 210mm monocrystalline silicon wafers in Vietnam, the first of these rolling off the production line in the city of Thai Nguyen, 80 kilometers north of Hanoi. The factory will be able to produce an annual 6.5GW of wafers, the new capacity giving the company greater flexibility in being able to deliver its products worldwide.
In addition to the new factory’s wafer production capacity, it has a capacity of 4GW and 5GW for cells and modules respectively. The wafers produced are primarily used at Trina Solar sites in Vietnam and Thailand, including for the company’s supply to the U.S. market.
