TW(Tongwei)Solar has announced the signing of a year long contract with leading Uzbekistani rooftop developer Yashil Energiya for a minimum of 300MW of high-efficiency modules for deployment at projects across the country.
The contract was signed by Allen Zhao, Tongwei’s sales director for MA (Asia Pacific) and Yashil Energiya director Babayev Bahrullo. Also in attendance was Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy for Uzbekistan.
The country has recently published a ten-year power development strategy in order to tackle the significant challenges faced by its power industry. Over the past four years, it has concluded investment agreements worth USD 10.1 billion for the operation of renewable energy facilities, with PV the major focus.
As a forerunner to the agreement, in February of this year Minister Mirzamakhmudov was joined by government and business representatives on a visit to Tongwei’s Jintang base to witness first hand the company’s strength in the PV sector.
In March Tongwei attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of PV plants with a capacity of 400MW in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region, subsequently signing a memorandum of cooperation for the development of rooftop PV and fishery & PV integration projects, marking a milestone in the implementation of the parties’ energy business cooperation plan.
