RGS Energy will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the two solar farms of nearly 1MWp.

Kam Mofid, CEO of RGS Energy, said: “As the first community-owned solar model in Massachusetts, these projects represent a new enabler for increased solar adoption, where owners of individual solar panels can reduce their home or business electric utility bill with solar power … while at the same time reducing their carbon footprint in a meaningful way.”

One of the projects will be located in the town of Hadley, where it will supply power to customers of the Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo). The other facility will be constructed in Rehoboth, where it will produce power for National Grid consumers.

Construction has already commenced on both sites, with an expected completion time planned for the end of June 2014.
