SunPower modules power three solar carports in Grenoble

12 February: SunPower has supplied 750kW of its E-Series solar panels for three new carports in Grenoble, southeastern France.

The project was led by regional utility GEG, in coordination with OSER and Grenoble Alpes Metropole, as part of its PARKOSOL program. PARKOSOL develops solar carport projects to serve the greater Grenoble area.

“Solar carports make sense because they provide electricity as well as shade,” said GEG production director Daniel Besson. “High-efficiency SunPower solar panels were the best choice for our carports because they maximize electricity output in space-constrained areas, and are recognized for high performance and reliability. The panels are manufactured sustainably, which enables these projects to meet environmental standards set by CRE, France's energy regulatory commission.”

Pars Lian completes 4MW solar project in Fars, Iran

7 February: Pars Lian Energy has completed a 4MW solar PV project in the Fars Province of Iran.

This is the first private sector PV project in the province to be connected to the national grid. It is located 20 kilometres from Sarvestan on the road to Shiraz-Sarvestan.

The project drew EUR4.1 million foreign capital investment and it was built in a period of three months.

Last week, local firm Gostaresh Energy No Atiyeh completed a 10MW solar PV project in the Yazd Province of central Iran.

Voltalia starts constructing 5MW project in France

9 February: Voltalia has started constructing the 5MW PAGAP1 solar power plant located in the Isère departement, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, for developer Martifer Solar.

The project will be built on land belonging to the Grenoble Air Parc joint development zone. Voltalia will also manage the O&M of the plant. Commissioning is expected in Q3 2018.

France's latest solar tender awards included 73MW for solar 'innovation'.
