China-based integrated PV module manufacturer Seraphim Solar System has secured ‘inherent defect’ insurance certification as an extra option for customers on its PV modules from independent insurance broker Solar Insurance and Finance (SolarIF).

The insurance policy protects purchasers against defective materials used in the production and assembly of PV modules and can typically be insured for the maximum period of 20 years.

The additional warranty works with Seraphim’s existing 10 year guarantee on product material, 12 years on 90% minimum performance output and 25 year warranty on 80% minimum module performance output. The company also has third-party insurance from Chubb on product reliability.

Seraphim said that SolarIf carried out onsite verification of its production process, quality control, EHS (Environment, health, safety) implementation and financial situation, resulting in a successful Factory Audit Report.

PV Tech recently revealed that Seraphim would be establishing a module assembly plant in the US.
