Global Solar Energy has announced the installation of three building-integrated PV projects across Italy. The company collaborated with Mapei Alubel and B.A. Energy to construct the rooftop projects using thin-film modules.

One of the projects is a 70kW installation on a curved roof in Milan, which was connected to the grid in December 2011. The modules are applied to a curved roof, using Alubel’s metal profiles. The second project is a 100kW installation on f a flat roof, also in Milan. The third project is an aluminium roof, which has the modules integrated into the existing structure of the roof. It generates 15kW of energy and is located on a public building in Lombardy. It was connected to the grid in April 2012. Global Solar Energy has announced the installation of five more BIPV projects by the end of June 2012.

“Demand for our thin film modules is high in Italy because many roofs have weight limitations and thus traditional glass modules cannot be installed,” commented Jean-Noel Poirier, chief sales officer of Global Solar Energy.
Marco Zibetti, CEO of B.A. Energie explained: “We decided to partner with Global Solar as they not only deliver the modules with the highest efficiency on the market, but also help us to develop new roofing systems by giving us technical support.”
