Solar modules supplier Worldwide Energy and Manufacturing USA has announced the resignation of the company’s director Michael O’Connor effective June 28, 2012, as well as the departure of Jeff Watson.

Canadian solar developer CarbonFree Technology has installed a 543kW PV system on the roof of Canada’s largest apple grower Algoma Orchards, the company has announced. The system, which is operated by BrightRoof Solar, a collaboration between CarbonFree and Connor Clark and Lunn Infrastructure, is installed on the roof of one of Algoma Orchards processing facilities.

Ethiopia will receive solar systems to connect rural areas to the grid, according to 2merkato reports. Chinese and British solar companies have signed agreements with the Ethiopian government to develop PV arrays ranging from 8kW to 130kW to power rural villages.

Gestamp Solar and Real Goods Solar have entered an agreement to construct a total of 4.8MW of PV projects, the companies have announced. The companies are jointly developing two PV plants in Vermont; a 2.3MW project in Pownal and a 2.5MW installation in Williamstown. Both projects are expected to begin construction at the end of July and are estimated to be completed by the end of 2012. RGS Energy, a Real Goods Solar division, is responsible for the design and installation of the projects while Gestamp Solar will own and operate the ground-mounted systems.

Infigen has been chosen to construct a 1MW PV plant with integrated storage, the company has announced. The Capital East solar farm will be built in New South Wales (NSW) and it will be the first in Australia to be registered with the National Electricity Market (NEM) as well as Infigen’s first PV project in operation.

TiSun has installed the largest solar thermal system in the Czech Republic, the company has announced. The 22 collector strong installation is located at a nursing home in Ostrava-Marianske on a 176m² surface and has been installed by Apex Euro. The system is connected to a 10,000 litre water tank that is heated with the generated energy. TiSun did not specify the energy output generated by the system.

Senersun has entered an agreement with Dutch SolarNRG, the company has announced. Under the agreement, PV panel manufacturer Senersun will supply SolarNRG with 55MW of PV panels. Senersun’s official distributer SolarNGR will distribute the panel in the Benelux region as well as the Dutch ABC Islands.

Bechtel Power has chosen Unirac to provide a PV system for the 110MW AC Catalina PV project in Kern County, California, the company has announced. The company will supply the Catalina PV park with a ground mounted system, installed on a 1,100 acre site. Unirac manufactured the system specifically for the project, which is expected to be completed in 2013.

IKEA has connected PV system number 22 to the grid in an area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the company has announced. The 694kW array is equipped with 2,884 PV panels on an 86,800ft² site at the IKEA store in Robinson Township. This PV plant leaves the Swedish retailer with 17 more projects to connect to the grid to achieve the goal of installing 38MW of energy at IKEA stores throughout the United States. The Pittsburgh store had a 31kW PPA PV system installed in 2000, under a five-year PPA, but it had been removed in order for the new system to be built by REC Solar, owned and operated by IKEA.

Conergy has taken over some of First Solar’s trainees at its Frankfurt site, the company has announced. After First Solar closed its manufacturing facility in Frankfurt, Conergy decided to take on some of the company’s apprentices who are training to become electronics engineers. Frankfurt’s Mayor Martin Wilke and Conergy's Claus Sven Starke made the decision in a personal conversation.
