Enfinity and Titan Energy have announced their plans to work in partnership to finance and construct 1GWp photovoltaic installations on 3000 acres of land in Andhra Pradesh, India, over the next five years. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) will distribute, in long lease, the 3000 acres in the villages of Thumalla, Dademavaripalli, Pulikuntapalli, Karimireddypalli and Lokogipalli and at the industrial park of Amadugur near Kadiri.
Over the next few months, Solarig will be constructing more than 30MW of PV installations in different regions of Italy. This October saw the beginning of eight parks alone in the Puglia and Piedmont regions of Italy. The company’s international construction of solar parks is an indication for them that their reach into the global market, is on the rise. Previously, Solarig had constructed and maintained PV parks in Spain that total 25MW.
The Lawrence Berkeley National Lab has released its “Tracking the Sun II: The Installed Cost of Photovoltaics in the US from 1998-2008” report. Among their findings is that the average cost of going solar in the US has declined by more than 30% between 1998 and 2008. They are crediting the government initiatives at the state and local level for the decrease in price and have also found that after a three year plateau, costs have decreased by 3.6% between 2007and 2008.
