Astronergy completes 20MW PV system in Golmud, China

Astronergy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, has finished work on a 20MW PV system in Golmud, China. The installation, which is one of the largest in China, takes Astronergy’s portfolio in the country to 60MW.

All the equipment for the project has been supplied by Chint Group, including panels, DC-AC switch gears, transformers and cables. Over its 25-year lifespan, the system is expected to generate around 875 million kWh of electricity.

Astronergy’s development is further indication of the success the recently-launched Chinese PV feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme is having in promoting the downstream sector; this year, China has installed 1.8GW, taking total capacity past the 16GW mark.

“The launch of FiT program has transformed the China PV market into a prominent one compared with a year ago. We anticipate the total installed capacity will reach 2GW within 2011 and keep increasing in 2012,” said Astronergy’s CEO, Liyou Yang.

“Providing total solution is Astronergy's core competence, and the emerging domestic market will make us commit to engaging in the downstream area. We look forward to further cooperation with international strategic partners in building these projects,” Astronergy’s chief sales and marketing officer, Alan Yuan, added.
