Evergreen Solar was awarded the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certificate from the United Kingdom’s British Board of Agrément, demonstrating that the company’s ES-A series panels meet the requirements for solar projects under the Renewables Cash-Back-Scheme. The Cash-Back-Scheme, which started in the UK this past April, pays homeowners and communities that install low carbon electricity for the power they generate. Solar projects must use MSC certified panels that are installed by MCS accredited installers in order to qualify for the funding.

Fidelis Energy has manufactured and shipped more than 23MW of solar modules to its first customer, TinSol Energy, located in South Africa. Benjamin Moore and Constellation Energy are on the verge of completing a new solar power system that is expected to generate 68% of the electricity required to power Benjamin Moore's 80,000 square foot research and development facility in Flanders, New Jersey. The 1.7MW plant, which comprises of 8,600 crystalline PV solar panels and can generate 2,230,000kW hours of electricity per annum, is expected to be operational by the end of the year and will reduce the company's greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 metric tonnes.

Boeing's Spectrolab subsidiary said it has begun volume production of its newest terrestrial triple-junction III-V-based solar cell, the C3MJ+. The device has an average conversion efficiency of 39.2%, which the company claims makes it the most-efficient cell on the market.

Neo Solar Power has signed a poly silicon supply contract with Hankook Silicon, which will provide them with 11,600 tonnes of poly silicon between 2011 and 2017. The agreement not only provides Neo Solar Power with a stable long-term poly silicon supply but also reinforces the strategic alliance between the two companies.
