Despite the deteriorating opportunities for ground-mounted solar parks in the Czech Republic, E.ON has commissioned a 4.2MWp solar park using 17,500 PV modules from Solarwatt. According to Solarwatt, the mono-crystalline modules were installed without a hitch in a construction period of only 10 weeks.

Having received UK Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation, aleo solar will be marketing its poly and mono-crystalline solar modules in the UK. The certification covers aleo modules S_16, S_17, S_18, S_19, S_24 and S_77. The company said it would be supporting installers with the design process through to after sales support services.

Evergreen Solar was awarded the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certificate from the United Kingdom’s British Board of Agrément, demonstrating that the company’s ES-A series panels meet the requirements for solar projects under the Renewables Cash-Back-Scheme. The Cash-Back-Scheme, which started in the UK this past April, pays homeowners and communities that install low carbon electricity for the power they generate. Solar projects must use MSC certified panels that are installed by MCS accredited installers in order to qualify for the funding.

Fidelis Energy has manufactured and shipped more than 23MW of solar modules to its first customer, TinSol Energy, located in South Africa. The company began module production at its manufacturing facility in China earlier this year, accelerating the manufacturing process and reaching the anticipated shipping date ahead of schedule.

Benjamin Moore and Constellation Energy are on the verge of completing a new solar power system that is expected to generate 68% of the electricity required to power Benjamin Moore's 80,000 square foot research and development facility in Flanders, New Jersey. The 1.7MW plant, which comprises of 8,600 crystalline PV solar panels and can generate 2,230,000kW hours of electricity per annum, is expected to be operational by the end of the year and will reduce the company's greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 metric tonnes.

Boeing's Spectrolab subsidiary said it has begun volume production of its newest terrestrial triple-junction III-V-based solar cell, the C3MJ+. The device has an average conversion efficiency of 39.2%, which the company claims makes it the most-efficient cell on the market.
