Energiebau Solarstromsysteme has installed one of Africa’s largest solar rooftop systems on the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya. The 515kW array took three months to construct and was connected to grid during the UN Global Ministerial Environment Forum on Monday; it will generate around 750,000 kWh of electricity annually.

“Photovoltaics is developing into an important factor for the climate-neutral architecture of the future. The importance of the developing east African market is reflected by the level of commitment to this flagship project, highlighting solar energy's potential and performance capacity in Africa,” said Energiebau’s managing director, Michael Schäfer.
