China’s success will cause Germany’s solar manufacturing industry to vanish, predicts a member of EON’s managing board. Klaus-Dieter Maubach stated the industry will become non-existent in five year's time.
Announced at the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit in New York, Maubach said the surge in solar cell production from Chinese companies is driving down the price of panels, making German companies uncompetitive. Chinese manufacturers have also been criticized by American solar organisations for dumping. The US International Trade Commission will today release its preliminary decision to impose anti-subsidy tariffs on Chinese imports.
