Astronergy has published its 2023 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, detailing its delivery on actions relating to the promotion of sustainable and stable development to all stakeholders.
Independently verified by TÜV NORD, the report covers the company’s efforts in delivering against its sustainability strategy and key issues linked to climate change, protection of labour, human rights, business ethics and creating and maintaining a sustainable supply chain.
Environmental – Carbon emissions decreased by 7.12%
In 2023, Astronergy released its sustainability strategy to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050. Relying on existing EHS management mechanisms and internal environmental management systems, the company saved 2,708.47 tons of standard coal, 15,768,400 kWh of electricity and 69,000 cubic meters of water last year.
In 2023, energy and water consumption intensity decreased by 34.18% and 25.43% respectively compared to the previous year, with a year-on-year increase of 14.65% in the recycling rate of non-hazardous waste.
As has been reported, the company also completed the upgrade of its first zero-carbon factory last year – the Yancheng facility, which eliminated 42,221.37 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Social – Proportion of female employees has now reached 32%, from 38 countries and of 42 nationalities. 22.22% of the company’s directors, 21% of its managers and 30% of its technicians are women.
Some 2 million US dollars was invested on social welfare in 2023, when Astronergy also helped to build 17 eco-power plant projects.
Governance – Over 80% of the company’s core suppliers are now ISO 14001 certified, with all having achieved the ISO 45001 standard.
In 2023, Astronergy reduced energy consumption in its production processes through technological optimization, also reducing use of materials.
