JinkoSolar has announced that it has agreed a large panel supply deal with major Chinese petroleum company Sinopec. The agreement is based on the enabling of green hydrogen projects using solar energy, with the electricity generated by JinkoSolar’s high efficiency solar panels powering the electrolyser used to produce hydrogen for further processing. The hydrogen produced is destined to meet the needs of the biofuel production process at Sinopec’s biorefinery, reducing annual CO2 emissions by thousands of tons.
“We are proud to collaborate with the Sinopec Group as its preferred choice for efficient and reliable solar panels to power their green hydrogen projects. These are critical for ramping up green hydrogen adoption and for driving costs down,” commented Yao Feng, GM of JinkoSolar China. “The Sinopec Group’s renewable hydrogen production, combined with our expertise in solar energy, is one step further towards meeting China’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2060.”
