JinkoSolar has announced that it has won a contract to provide 5MW of its BIPV solar modules for the new headquarter building of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Once completed, it will be both the largest and highest single BIPV system in the world. Covering a total roof and façade area of 24,150㎡ and utilizing advanced N-type cell technology, total capacity can reach 5MW, via modules in a power range of 61W to 912W with varying transparency from 3% to 16%. The new system’s 16,500 square meters of solar panels on the roof of the building will produce over 3,500 kilowatts (kW), with annual total energy generated over 5,800 MWh to meet 100% of the building’s electricity demand.

Mr. Gener Miao, JinkoSolar’s Chief Marketing Officer, commented: “It is our pleasure to see more and more countries and companies take responsibility for the energy transition. By replacing conventional building materials with BIPV panels, DEWA’s new HQ will be able to achieve 100% self-consumption of electricity, and will become the world’s largest demonstration BIPV project.”
