LONGi and Masdar have jointly held a signing ceremony in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, to mark an agreement under which LONGi is to supply its high efficiency modules to Masdar’s wholly-owned affiliate, Source Trading Company, for the 230MW Garadagh solar plant, the first utility-scale plant in Azerbaijan.

The project is located nine kilometers northwest of the country’s Alat settlement and will generate an annual half a billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to meet the needs of more than 110,000 houses. The project will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 200,000 tons a year and will also create job opportunities for the local community.

LONGi was represented at the signing ceremony by Jia Chao, President of the MEA and CA region, Gonzalo Bonelo, Middle East Sales Director and Baggio Teng, Head of the new business team.

Jia Chao commented: “LONGi is looking forward to working with Masdar, not only in supporting Azerbaijan on its ambitious clean energy journey, but also in exploring more opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between our companies in the Middle East and other geographies”.
