After a two-year break, the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference (OEC) returns as the international meeting point for projects and solutions in decentralized energy supply. This hands-on, English-speaking B2B networking event will take place from October 30 to 31, at the Conference Center of Messe Augsburg, with some 40 exhibitors from eight countries presenting their innovations. The focus topics include decentralized energy solutions, the Water-Energy-Food Nexus (WEF), and strategies for local socio-economic development.
With a single ticket, attendees can access the full OEC offering – including conference sessions, exhibition, product and service trainings and side events – all conveniently located within short walking distances.
A special highlight this year is the participation of a high-ranking delegation from Kenya, the official partner country of OEC 2025. The opening ceremony will be attended by H.E. Stella Mokaya Orina, Ambassador of Kenya in Berlin, along with Alex Wachira, Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Energy in Nairobi, and other representatives from the East African nation. They will share insights into Kenya’s energy sector and Vision 2030. The event will be officially opened by Ministerial dirigent Robert Winkler of the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment, on behalf of patron Minister Thorsten Glauber. Around 900 participants are expected to attend, including additional delegations from East and West Africa, as well as attendees from across Europe.
Other highlights include test drives hosted by Tesla (one of this year’s exhibiting companies), a hands-on workshop paired with an Off-Grid sale supporting VET4Africa, targeted networking in the Meet & Greet Area, and a recruitment corner supported by Greenjobs. Additional programming kicks off a day earlier, on October 29, with a Capacity Building session organized by GSAN and a startup accelerator workshop hosted by German Accelerator.
Product and service trainings from exhibitors will run parallel to the conference and can be joined at any time without prior registration.
Alongside Tesla, other key exhibitors include Phaesun, Schneider Electric Energy Access, and Victron Energy, as well as organizations such as the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit), research institutes, universities and promising startups.
As always, the conference – the heart of every OEC – promises high-value content. Developed in collaboration with our industry partner, the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), it features contributions from international experts on challenges such as energy supply for islands, decentralized renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial use, and approaches to driving socio-economic development. The conference will also address the growing relevance of off-grid energy for carbon offsetting and climate neutrality.
