Trinasolar’s factory in Yiwu, Zhejiang province has been awarded 2023 four star Zero-carbon factory (Type I) certification by TiGroup for the second time since it became the PV industry’s first zero-carbon factory last year.
The factory has continued to follow green practices, cutting energy use, reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, continually improving energy management and upgrading equipment and facilities, resulting in power consumption per unit product (kWh/MW) of the factory falling by 6.86% last year compared with 2022, and carbon emissions per unit of production (tCO2e/MW) also falling by 6.18%.
Trinasolar is a recognized industry leader in low-carbon practices, having also been awarded EPD Norway and EPD International certification for its Vertex S+ series module, with the Yiwu factory one of the company’s major bases for the module’s mass production. In January, Trina received UL EPD and EPD Italy certification for its Vertex N 720W, N 625W and 670W modules, following Vertex modules being awarded Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Footprint certification by TÜV Rheinland in 2022.
Trina executive president Helena Li commented: “It’s an honour for our Yiwu factory to once again secure Zero-carbon certification. It’s a significant achievement, especially because this time the factory has been upgraded from three stars to four, underscoring Trinasolar’s commitment to sustainable development. We’re passionate about ensuring that our modules and entire production cycle are as sustainable as possible.”
