Trinasolar has announced the grid connection of a 12.6 MW rooftop project at its cell and module factory in Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen province, representing the northern province’s first such large-scale project. Trina is both the investor and constructor of the project, deploying its double-glass bifacial modules, with the company’s International System Business Unit (‘ISBU’) serving as EPC.
The project is expected to generate an average annual power output of approximately 11.29 million kilowatt hours, satisfying the factory’s entire electricity demand. Annual cell and module output is estimated to reach 4 GW and 6 GW respectively, enhancing the company’s supply capability for the Southeast Asian market.
In November, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang met Trinasolar Chairman and CEO Gao Jifan and TrinaPower Chairman Gao Haichun in Hanoi, commending the company for its contribution to Vietnam’s renewable energy development.
The development of TrinaPower’s distributed photovoltaics is significant for Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, in enabling them to adjust their energy structures and establish a clean, low-carbon energy system. As the era of affordable PV gathers pace, it is crucial to control system costs while increasing power generation, as the challenge of return on investment for new projects intensifies.
