Trinasolar has announced the sale of 100% of the assets of its 200 MWac (260 MWp) Glenellen solar farm to Australia’s Global Power Generation (GPG).

Trinasolar International System Business Unit’s Australian team is responsible for the  development of the Glenellen project, and active in Australia in terms of project development, EPC and investment.

Glenellen is one of the largest solar farms under development in New South Wales, with an estimated 393,960 panels, spread over 300 hectares of land. Its expected annual power generation is 507 GWh, sufficient to power approximately 100,000 homes. Glenellen will be connected to the Transgrid Jindera Substation at 132 kV, having already received connection approval, and is currently in the process of securing secondary approvals in order to start construction.

The acquisition of Glenellen forms an integral part of GPG’s expansion strategy, its ambition to become a regional leader in renewable energy solutions for both corporate and residential customers. “We will work in collaboration with Trinasolar to successfully bring the project to completion. I am sure that this will be the beginning of a successful relationship for both companies in Australia and that Trinasolar will be a reliable partner for our Australian business,” commented GPG Chief Business Development Officer Pedro Serrano.

“We are very pleased to team up with GPG on the Glenellen Solar Farm. This is the first large-scale solar farm that Trinasolar ISBU has developed in Australia, and the signing of this agreement is well aligned with our long-term strategy to grow our position as a solar powerhouse and to achieve our new growth targets here. As our pipeline continues to build, we look forward to delivering more renewable energy projects to the Australian market in the coming years,” added John Zhong, the ISBU’s Country Manager for Australia and the APAC region.
