Embarking on its second year as India’s international exhibition for solar technology, Intersolar India will this year be held in the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, having been held in Hyderabad for its inaugural show in 2009. The relocation to one of the country’s largest exhibition centres underscores the success of last year’s launch, paving the way for the expansion of the show in years to come.

Intersolar India focuses on the development of India’s solar industry, highlighting trade opportunities for the country’s commercial and political players. India’s high energy needs and rapid economic growth are encouraging policymakers to back the adoption of solar energy in the country.

Furthermore, India’s high insolation levels mean that the country is well positioned to become a strong player in the PV industry. The country’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has publicised its “National Solar Mission” of implementing solar installations with a combined output of 20GW by 2022, and the organisers of Intersolar India see this year’s event as a prime opportunity to promote the country’s burgeoning PV market.
