JinkoSolar has inked a major PV module supply agreement with Enel Green Power (EGP) to provide 100MW to two PV power plants being built in Chile.

The first project is named Lalackama, in the Atacama Desert region, which according to registration documents is a 129MW plant, which JinkoSolar is providing 197,000 modules.

The second project is located in the Municipality of Diego De Almagro, which Enel told PV Tech recently that it had already started construction on and would also be using 225,000, mostly a-Si thin-film modules manufactured at its JV subsidiary 3Sun in Italy.

JinkoSolar did not say what the module quantities were for the 36MW Diego De Almagro project. It would seem that JinkoSolar is supplying the largest amount of modules for the combined project total of 165MW.

Alberto Cuter, JinkoSolar's sales director of emerging market said: “The increase in demand for renewable energy has turned Chile into one of the principal solar markets, and by signing those contracts, we are continuing our strategy to diversify into emerging markets.”
