Renewable energy developer Juwi has signed contracts with investors Hisun PV to build two power plants in Romania.
The plants, totalling 13MW, are expected to be grid connected by November 2013, powering 4,700 Romanian households with 16 million kWh annually, for Transelectrica RO power suppliers.

Engineering, procurement and construction was agreed in July with Abacus Renewables, and 53,700 modules are to be supplied by manufacturer GD Solar/HiSun.
Construction has just started on the plants, one plant located in north Romanian city Satu Mare, and the other just north of Bucharest in the city of Butimanu.
The projects will be managed by Juwi’s Italy subsidiary, Juwi Energie Rinnovabili, and its Bulgarian subsidiary, Juwi Solar.
Marco Margheri, managing director of Juwi Italy said: “It is exciting to manage several projects in parallel in a new market like Romania. Therefore we are very proud that HiSun PV chose us to build their solar parks.”
Managing director of Juwi Bulgaria, Nikola Gazdov, also said the photovoltaic market in Romania is “challenging, but at the same time also very promising”.
The announcement follows Juwi Group’s securing of a €252 million (US$336 million) loan from a 13-strong consortium of financial institutions.
